Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the brother of Charles III, King of the United Kingdom, has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

Details: The BBC published a police statement which says that a man in his 60s from Norfolk was arrested on 19 February as part of an investigation into alleged misconduct in public office. Searches were also conducted at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk.

The name of the suspect has not been officially disclosed in line with national guidelines, but the BBC and other UK media outlets are reporting that he is Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, brother of King Charles III.

The suspect remains in custody.

The police stressed that the case is active and warned that care should be taken with reporting to avoid being in contempt of court.

Quote from Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright: "Following a thorough assessment, we have now opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office. It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged offence. We understand the significant public interest in this case, and we will provide updates at the appropriate time."

More details: Police have been looking into allegations against the former Duke of York, who turned 66 today, in connection with the case of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Andrew has consistently denied all allegations against him and any wrongdoing linked to Epstein.
