Russia has attacked Ukraine's energy system 5,796 times over the four years of the full-scale war.

Quote: "Russia has carried out 5,796 attacks on Ukraine's energy system. After every strike, energy crews went back to work, restoring power and heat for Ukrainian families as fast as possible, despite freezing temperatures and repeated shelling.

Tragically, 247 energy workers were killed in the line of duty. They fought for light."

Details: Shmyhal noted that in order to break the Ukrainians, Russia began its terror against the civilian population. The energy sector became one of the targets from the very start of the invasion.

The minister noted that "the enemy tried to plunge us into darkness and cold and again, it miscalculated. It underestimated the professionalism and resolve of Ukrainian energy workers."

Background: It was previously reported that the total need for repair and modernisation of the energy sector over the next 10 years is US$90.6 billion, with US$71 billion, almost 80% of the total, needed for the repair and modernisation of generation capacities.
