Quote: "Special forces from Defence Intelligence of Ukraine have carried out a series of successful offensive actions and continue active combat operations near Stepnohirsk in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
During the operation, conducted under difficult logistics conditions and amid constant attempts by the enemy to hold their positions through 'meatgrinder assaults', Arta unit fighters, in cooperation with other units from DIU Active Operations Department and Ukraine's defence forces, regained control of key positions and significantly improved the tactical situation in this sector of the front."
Details: DIU has not specified when the operation took place. It says that forward Russian assault groups were destroyed and dozens of Russian soldiers were wiped out. DIU added that "strikes on the logistics and communication nodes belonging to Russian occupiers currently prevent them from carrying out assaults in this direction". A video of the operation was also released.
"These active actions were conducted in close coordination with other units from DIU Active Operations Department and Ukraine's defence forces. They made it possible to establish a stable foothold for further clearing of the settlement and the final expulsion of the enemy," said Viktor Torkotiuk, commander of the Arta unit.
Background: On 15 January, DeepState, a Ukrainian group of military analysts, reported that Russian forces had made gains in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts, particularly near Stepnohirsk.
