Analysts reveal aftermath of FP-1 drone strike on nitrogen fertiliser plant in Russia

Production facilities of a nitrogen fertiliser and ammonium nitrate plant in the Russian town of Dorogobuzh were destroyed following an attack by Ukraine's defence forces using Ukrainian FP-1 drones.
Source: CyberBoroshno, a Ukrainian OSINT community
Details: The OSINT community reported that the Ukrainian UAVs struck facilities involved in the production, storage and transportation of ammonium nitrate. The satellite imagery taken after the strike shows the evidence.
Quote: "A chain of explosions occurred at the vehicle loading site, the railway terminal, and directly at the finished goods warehouse. Ammonium nitrate production facilities were also caught in the blast zone."

Details: The blast wave caused by the FP-1 strikes completely destroyed one of the overpasses and damaged part of the adjacent production facilities. The images also show debris scattered "across a significant area" following the explosions. Analysts say that in 2024, the affected production site accounted for about 10% of Russia's total ammonium nitrate output.
The targeted plant produced ammonium nitrate and nitric acid. These substances are used in the manufacture of explosives, propellants, TNT and RDX, as reported by the Defense Express (Ukrainian media outlet).
The OSINT project Exilenova+ reported that, in addition to the ammonia plant, Ukraine's defence forces also struck a combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Dorogobuzh.
Quote: "According to available materials, one of the fairly large buildings on the plant's premises sustained serious damage. Most likely, this concerns the coal crushing and transfer unit, a key element of the fuel supply system for the thermal power plant. An additional indicator is the absence of steam from the smokestacks. As of today, this may suggest that the CHP plant is not operating or is in shutdown mode."

Background:
- OSINT analysts had published the aftermath of a strike carried out with FP-5 Flamingo missiles on a Russian plant in Votkinsk.
- In addition, the Ukrainian team OSINT Varta, jointly with the Lex Talionis project, released an interactive map containing data on more than 6,000 enterprises of Russia's military-industrial complex and their employees.
