Details: Zelenskyy said the main changes that need to be implemented have been prepared and that Ukraine's strategy for the next winter will be defined soon, taking into account the experience of oblasts and hromadas that proved more effective this winter. [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]

Svyrydenko also reported during the meeting that the government is prepared to introduce annual pension indexation starting from 1 March.

Pensions and insurance benefits will be indexed by 12.1%, affecting about 10 million Ukrainians.

Background:

  • Zelenskyy said earlier that Ukraine will change its approach to ensuring hromadas' energy supply, with a plan for the next heating season to be considered and approved at the national level.
  • The Ukrainian government is expanding support programmes for energy autonomy for apartment blocks and detached houses.
  • On 28 January, Svyrydenko announced the launch of the SvitloDim programme, designed to support apartment buildings with their own autonomous power supply during prolonged outages.
