Power outages hit some consumers in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Mykolaiv and Khmelnytskyi oblasts after damage caused by a large-scale Russian missile and drone attack on energy facilities overnight and on the morning of 7 March.

Details: Ukrenergo said emergency restriction measures remain in place in several oblasts because of the latest and earlier large-scale attacks. These include limits on capacity for industrial consumers and rolling hourly outages for all categories of households.

Quote: "Considering the weather conditions in most oblasts, it makes sense to shift the use of high-power electrical appliances to daytime hours today, from 11:00 to 15:00. This is when solar power plants operate most efficiently."

More details: Ukrenergo also said that consumers should move electricity-intensive use to the period of lowest load on the grid, after 22:00, in oblasts where restrictions remain in place.

Background: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that on the night of 6-7 March, Russia targeted energy facilities in Kyiv and Khmelnytskyi and Chernivtsi oblasts, as well as railway infrastructure in Zhytomyr Oblast.
