António Costa, President of the European Council, has condemned Russia's large-scale missile attack on Ukraine's energy system and civilian infrastructure.

Details: Costa said such systematic and deliberate strikes on civilians are unacceptable and attacks on energy infrastructure are a cynical attempt to terrorise the Ukrainian people.

  • Russian forces launched a large-scale combined attack on Ukraine on the night of 6-7 March.
  • First, Russian drones hit the city of Sumy, striking residential and non-residential buildings. They also targeted the city of Chuhuiv in Kharkiv Oblast, where a drone hit a house and injured two people.
  • Russian forces later struck a multi-storey residential building in the city of Kharkiv with a ballistic missile on the night of 6-7 March, killing seven people and injuring at least 10. Later Russia launched a missile attack on the city of Novodnistrovsk in Chernivtsi Oblast and attacked the city of Zaporizhzhia.
  • Ukrainian state-run railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) said that several passenger trains in three Ukrainian oblasts have been forced to change routes and are running with delays following a large-scale Russian attack that damaged railway infrastructure.
