Quote from the school: "Caring, open, always ready to help – that is how everyone knew Olena Mykhailivna. She knew how to support people in difficult moments and inspired her young pupils to achieve and discover new things.

They say that primary school teachers lay the foundation of a person's destiny, and Olena Mykhailivna did this with boundless love, giving each child a part of her maternal warmth."

Nine-year-old Hordii also studied at the same lyceum where his mother worked. Staff remember him as a diligent, well-mannered and open boy who grew up in a loving family.

"Hordii was a sincere, kind and open boy who loved hockey, his team and training very much. We remember his smile, his dedication on the ice and the joy with which he came to every practice," the hockey federation shared.

The head of the school's trade union has launched a fundraiser to support the family Olena ad Hordii. Details can be found in this post.

Background: On the night of 6-7 March, Russian forces struck a high-rise residential building in Kharkiv with ballistic missiles. As a result of the attack, 11 people were killed and at least 10 others were injured.
