Putin congratulates Mojtaba Khamenei on becoming Iran's leader and wishes him success

Russian leader Vladimir Putin has congratulated Mojtaba Khamenei on being elected Supreme Leader of Iran.

Details: In his message, Putin said Mojtaba Khamenei will need "great courage and dedication" in his new role.
"I am confident that you will honourably continue the work of your father and unite the Iranian people in the face of severe trials," the message says.
Putin also expressed support for Tehran and "solidarity with Iranian friends".
"Russia has been and will remain a reliable partner of the Islamic Republic. I wish you success in solving the difficult tasks before you, as well as good health and strength of spirit," the congratulatory telegram reads.
Background: The Assembly of Experts of Iran has elected Mojtaba Khamenei as the country's new Supreme Leader following the killing of his father, Ali Khamenei.
