Head of Ukraine's oil and gas company explains why Russia is attacking pumping stations in Ukraine's south

Russians have been attacking oil transportation infrastructure in Ukraine's south with drones for two consecutive days in order to block an alternative route for supplying non-Russian oil to Europe.

Details: Koretskyi said that damage and destruction were recorded at one of the pumping stations, but no people were harmed.
Units of the State Emergency Service and company specialists are working to deal with the aftermath of the attack.
This is far from the first attack on different sections of Ukraine's infrastructure, Koretskyi noted.
"With what purpose did the Russians deliberately strike with drones and destroy the pumping station of the Druzhba oil pipeline in the city of Brody? Sooner or later, we will learn the truth," he wrote on Facebook.
"But the reason for the deliberate attacks on pumping stations in Ukraine's south is obvious – to make alternative supplies of non-Russian oil to Europe impossible," Koretskyi added.
In total, since the beginning of this year alone, Russia has carried out more than 30 attacks on infrastructure facilities belonging to the Naftogaz group.
Background:
- On 7-8 March, Russians carried out a large-scale attack on gas production facilities of the Naftogaz group in Poltava Oblast.
- On the night of 27-28 February, Russia struck a Naftogaz gas production facility in Kharkiv Oblast.
- On 27 January, a Russian strike damaged a key pumping station of the Druzhba oil pipeline in Brody, Lviv Oblast.
- In Ukraine, as part of preparations for the next winter, Naftogaz of Ukraine plans to build 392 MW of distributed generation in 2026, mainly gas-fired, while the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine will build 92 MW.
