Details: Zelenskyy said that they discussed, among other things, military assistance and contributions to the PURL (Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List) initiative, through which partner countries can purchase US-made weapons for Ukraine.
The meeting also focused on the importance of developing the energy network between the two countries. This will help Ukraine amid shortages caused by Russia's constant attacks on its energy infrastructure, and will also help Romania when Ukraine has a surplus and can export electricity.
"Therefore, cooperation in the energy sector was also a key topic of our discussion," the president noted.
Particular attention was paid to expanding border crossing points between Ukraine and Romania, and the two leaders also discussed work on an intergovernmental agreement on joint oversight at checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Romanian border.
Background:
- Earlier on Thursday, Zelenskyy announced that work has begun on building two electricity supply lines.
- Zelenskyy and his Romanian counterpart Nicușor Dan signed a number of documents during the Ukrainian leader's visit to Bucharest.
