Details: Commenting on Trump's remark, Zelenskyy observed that "rhetoric is rhetoric" and said "the main thing is that we know what we are doing".
He also thanked the US for the opportunity to purchase weapons.
Quote: "We are grateful to the Americans that we still have opportunities to purchase [weapons] through the PURL [Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List] programme. And what we buy includes HIMARS and Patriot air defence missiles."
Background:
- On 13 March, Trump insisted that the US does not need Ukraine's help to shoot down Iranian drones in the Middle East. "We don't need their help in drone defence. We know more about drones than anybody. We have the best drones in the world, actually," he said.
- US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll said the US Army has sent 10,000 Merops interceptor drones, which have proven effective in combat in Ukraine, to the Middle East.
