Details: This is a serious step backwards compared with Ukraine's performance at the Paralympics in Beijing four years ago, when the national team won 29 medals, 10 of them gold, and finished in second place behind the hosts.
Chinese athletes topped the table, winning 44 medals: 15 gold, 13 silver and 16 bronze. The United States was the runner-up with 24 medals (13-5-6), while Russia came third with 12 (8-1-3).
Almost all of Ukraine's medals – 16 – were won in the biathlon. Ukrainian athletes made the podium three times in cross-country skiing. One of the medals went to a team: Oleksandra Kononova, Liudmyla Liashenko, Taras Rad and Pavlo Bal won silver in the mixed cross-country relay.
It should be noted that although Ukraine ranks third by total medal count, Russia, Italy, Austria and France claimed more gold medals.
The next Paralympic Games will take place in 2030 in the French Alps.
