Searches are being conducted at the Kyiv Court of Appeal and at the home of Judge Volodymyr Melnyk.

Sources told Ukrainska Pravda that the investigative actions concern Ivaniushchenko's case and are linked to its closure and the lifting of freezes on his accounts abroad.

Searches concern a case in which judges and prosecutors helped lift a freeze on Ivaniushchenko's funds in Switzerland.

According to the sources, the amount involved may be more than €70 million.

Background:

  • Ivaniushchenko, known as Yura Yenakiievskyi, fled Ukraine after the 2014 Revolution of Dignity.
  • Ivaniushchenko was suspected of misappropriating state budget funds on an especially large scale, as well as raiding the well-known Odesa market 7th Kilometre.
  • In 2019, Ivaniushchenko was removed from the wanted list after his details disappeared from the Ministry of Internal Affairs database. The National Police confirmed this was based on information from the Odesa Oblast Prosecutor's Office regarding the closure of criminal proceedings against him.
  • Later, the Prosecutor General's Office said it had cancelled decisions on closure of criminal proceedings against Ivaniushchenko and was asking for him to be declared wanted again.
  • In 2025, Ivanushchenko was charged in absentia with the illegal acquisition of 18 hectares of state-owned land worth over UAH 160 million (roughly US$3.6 million), and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
