Details: Russia claims the drones were intercepted over multiple oblasts, including Bryansk, Smolensk, Kaluga, Belgorod, Voronezh, Rostov, Volgograd, Tula, Ryazan, Kursk, Saratov and Samara oblasts, the Republic of Tatarstan and Moscow Oblast, as well as occupied Crimea.
According to the BBC Russian service, local sources in Saratov Oblast suggested that a local oil refinery may have been one of the targets.
The media outlet also cited Radiy Khabirov, Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan (a federal entity of the Russian Federation), who stated that drones were shot down near oil refineries in Ufa.
According to an analysis by Astra, satellite imagery indicates that facilities of Bashneft were likely among the intended targets in Ufa. Authorities reported that drones struck a building under construction.
Footage analysis suggests the drones were heading towards the northern industrial zone of Ufa – one of Russia's largest petrochemical hubs.
Bashneft, which is part of Rosneft, operates three major refineries in the area: Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim, Bashneft-Novoyl and Bashneft-UNPZ, located in close proximity to each other.
