Russian drones strike Lviv Oblast: 26 injured, UNESCO World Heritage site on fire in Lviv

Russian drones attacked Lviv Oblast on 24 March, causing fires at a UNESCO World Heritage site in Lviv and a house in the village of Sernyky; 22 people have been injured.

Details: Sadovyi said explosions were heard in the city while an air-raid warning was in effect and air defence forces were responding.

Kozytskyi added later that at least two people were seriously injured as a result of the attack. ​​Early reports indicate that the UNESCO World Heritage site was damaged.

He also warned of a high threat of a repeat drone attack and urged people to stay in shelters.

Update: Later, Kozytskyi reported that residential buildings caught fire in Lviv on Soborna Square and on the streets of Brativ Rohatyntsiv and Chervonoi Kalyny following the Russian drone attack.

A house also caught fire in the village of Sernyky in the Bibrka hromada due to falling UAV debris. [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]

Quote from Kozytskyi: "Firefighters are working at all scenes.

Early reports indicate that seven people have been injured. One person is in a serious condition.

Information is being updated. Remain in shelters until the all-clear is given!"

Update: Later, Sadovyi wrote that the number of those injured had risen to 13.

Kozytskyi subsequently reported that the Bernardine Monastery, an architectural monument of national significance, has been damaged in Lviv.

It is located within the historic centre of Lviv, which is included in the List of Cultural Property under Enhanced Protection.

The fire affected the perimeter buildings of the monastery.

Hits on critical infrastructure facilities were also recorded in the Komarno and Dobrosyn-Maheriv hromadas.

Meanwhile, information about a fire on Brativ Rohatyntsiv Street in Lviv was not confirmed.

As of 18:55, Sadovyi said that the number of people injured in the attack had risen again.

Quote from Sadovyi: "As things stand, 22 people with injuries of varying severity are being treated in Lviv hospitals."

Update: At 20:36, Kozytskyi reported that the number of people injured in the drone attack on Lviv Oblast had risen to 26.
