Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has urged UNESCO to respond to a Russian strike on central Lviv that damaged a World Heritage site.

Details: Sybiha also stated that Ukraine will use all available mechanisms to protect cultural heritage and hold Russia accountable for violations of international law.

He added that not only central Lviv but also the city's residential districts came under attack.

The minister reported that during the day, Russia used drones to attack a number of Ukrainian cities, particularly Lviv, Ternopil, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro. Destruction and civilian casualties have been reported.

Background: Russian drones attacked Lviv Oblast on 24 March, setting a UNESCO World Heritage site on fire in Lviv and a house ablaze in the village of Sernyky; 13 people were injured.
