Zelenskyy appoints new counterintelligence heads of Security Service of Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed new heads of the Counterintelligence Department and the Military Counterintelligence Department of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU).

Details: According to the decrees, Serhii Hunkovskyi has been appointed head of the SSU Counterintelligence Department; he previously served as deputy head of the same department.
Viktor Zaiets has also been appointed head of the SSU Military Counterintelligence Department.
Background:
- SSU's counterintelligence units are part of its central administration.
- In January 2025, Andrii Tupikov was appointed head of the Counterintelligence Department of the Security Service of Ukraine; he currently serves as deputy head of the SSU.
