President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that as yet the Trump administration has not stopped delivering missiles for Patriot air defence systems despite the war in the Middle East.

Details: Following an intense Russian attack on Ukrainian cities on Wednesday, Zelenskyy thanked the Trump administration for maintaining deliveries of Patriot missiles despite increased demand for them due to the conflict in the Persian Gulf.

Ukrainian officials said earlier they were concerned that deliveries of US missiles for the Patriot air defence system – the only missiles in Ukraine's arsenal capable of intercepting Russian ballistic missiles – could be suspended due to the Iranian conflict.

Quote from Zelenskyy: "Deliveries to us were not stopped. I'm very grateful to President Trump, and to his team. But this supply of Patriot missiles is not as large as we need."

Details: Meanwhile, Zelenskyy said Ukraine has made progress in producing its own long-range missiles and drones, enabling it to strike deep inside Russia in response to Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities.

Media reports have suggested, however, that the Pentagon is considering redirecting military aid intended for Ukraine to the Middle East, as the war involving Iran is depleting stocks of some of the US armed forces' most critical munitions.

Background: Andrius Kubilius, European Commissioner for Defence and Space, said about 800 US-made interceptor missiles had been used in three days in the Middle East, more than the roughly 700 missiles Ukraine had used over the winter period.
