Colonel Stanislav Luchanov, the newly appointed commander of Ukraine's 155th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after Anna of Kyiv, has said that despite regular Russian infiltration, the brigade continues to hold the village of Hryshyne near Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast and has more than 100 troops there.

Quote: "We have enough servicemen in Hryshyne itself. We even have positions in front of Hryshyne – from the Pokrovsk side, in front of the industrial zone. I'm not going to disclose the exact number of personnel in Hryshyne, but it's more than 100.

The enemy is, of course, infiltrating, but the whole of Hryshyne is under our control and our people are present throughout the village.

I recently did some objective monitoring: I showed all the positions on video from our birds [drones – ed.]. All the positions are in contact.

We are currently actively mopping up the north of Hryshyne and moving south, mopping up the left and right flanks and advancing towards Pokrovsk itself. So I would not say that Hryshyne has been lost or that there are daily [Russian] advances here."

Details: Luchanov said it is difficult to determine the exact number of Russian troops who have infiltrated Hryshyne, but he estimates it at between 20 and 50 personnel. On 27 March, the 155th Brigade killed 12 Russians on the approaches to the village and wounded at least one more. Between 10 and 20 Russian troops are being killed in Hryshyne each day.

The 155th Brigade says the approximate line of contact in the vicinity of Hryshyne runs beyond the village itself, whereas Ukrainian OSINT analysts from DeepState place it in the centre of the settlement.

Russian forces are attempting to infiltrate Hryshyne from three directions simultaneously: from the west along the E50 road (Pavlohrad-Pokrovsk); from the east across fields, wooded areas and farms between Hryshyne and Pokrovsk; and from the south from the direction of Pokrovsk itself.

Background: Earlier, DeepState reported that Russian forces had advanced deeper into Ukrainian territory in Hryshyne and had captured part of the village of Sofiivka, also in Donetsk Oblast.
