Quote: "As for the redirection of weapons, nothing of the sort has happened. I cannot tell you what will happen next. I think it depends on many factors. In particular, the duration of the war will, I believe, be a decisive factor in this matter. I hope that no such steps will be taken."
Details: Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine understands the scale of weapons used by the United States in the conflict with Iran, and is also aware of what Iran has and what it needs from Russia.
"All of these are factors that will influence further developments both in Ukraine and in the Middle East. We hope that the packages will not be redirected. There have been no signals," he said.
Background:
- On 27 March, Politico reported that representatives of Donald Trump's administration had begun warning countries that US arms supplies to Ukraine could be disrupted in the coming months, as the Pentagon prioritises their use in the war with Iran.
- US President Donald Trump also commented on media reports about the possible redirection of US weapons intended for Ukraine to the Middle East, saying that the United States is constantly reallocating weapons from different parts of the world.
- Meanwhile, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that US weapons from PURL will continue to be supplied to Ukraine.
- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States is not redirecting weapons purchased by NATO countries for Ukraine to the Middle East, but did not rule out such a possibility.
