Details: According to Kuleba, the attack damaged railway infrastructure facilities, a locomotive depot, and partially shattered windows at the station building. Railway workers promptly took shelter; however, four employees of the locomotive depot were injured.

Kuleba said that one of the employees is in a serious condition. All those affected in the attack have been hospitalised and are receiving the necessary medical assistance.

Background:

  • Russia has intensified attacks on Ukraine's railway infrastructure: since the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, there have been around 5,000 such attacks, with more than 10% of them occurring in just the first months of this year.
  • Comprehensive measures have helped protect many trains from enemy UAV strikes. However, to safeguard all trains along front-line areas at a depth of 30–60 kilometres, dozens of electronic warfare modules would be required for each train.
