Quote: "It was specifically developed to destroy attack UAVs such as Shahed-136, Geran and Gerbera, as well as reconnaissance UAVs, including Zala, Supercam and Skat."
Details: The Ministry of Defence stated that the Shvidun UAV system is manufactured from a durable composite material. It weighs approximately eight kg and has a wingspan of nearly two metres. The drone can reach an altitude of up to six kilometres and attain a speed of over 250 kilometres per hour. The UAV's operational radius exceeds 70 kilometres. The defence ministry noted that this is sufficient to cover the sky above any Ukrainian city.
"The implementation of innovative technological solutions eliminates airframe flutter (vibrations) at high speeds, thereby ensuring that the onboard camera transmits a clear image to the operator," the Ministry of Defence added.
It was stressed that even at its high maximum flight speed, the Shvidun UAV system has a low take-off and landing speed. This allows the aircraft to be landed in the event of target loss and used again. In total, the Shvidun can remain airborne for over two hours.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the first pieces are already operational, protecting Ukrainian cities. With their assistance, approximately 100 Russian drones have already been destroyed.
Background: Ukrainian company with American investment OSIRIS AI recently presented the OSIRIS UEB-1 interceptor drone at the international Xpotential 2026 event in Düsseldorf, Germany. According to its stated specifications, the drone is designed to intercept high-speed aerial targets and can reach speeds of up to 315 kilometres per hour.
