Ukraine has passed a request for an Easter ceasefire to the United States, but it is unclear whether Washington will be able to relay this message to Russia.

Quote: "We have all seen their [Russia's – ed.] response in the media space: they seem not ready for this. I do not know how serious this response is.
We have passed our request to the American side. I do not know whether they will have the opportunity to convey their own message to the Russians. We will see. Our proposal for an Easter ceasefire remains in place."
Background:
- On 30 March, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays, as well as for an energy truce.
- "We are ready for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays. In my view, to be honest, normal people who respect life talk about a ceasefire and ending the war for life, not for a few days. But we are, of course, ready for any compromises, except compromises with our dignity and sovereignty."
- The spokesperson for the Kremlin leader, Dmitry Peskov, indicated that Moscow would not support President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's proposal for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays, arguing that it was not "clearly formulated".
