Ukrainian air defence downs 26 Russian missiles and 515 drones, strikes recorded at 20 locations

Russia carried out a combined strike on Ukraine's critical infrastructure on the night of 2-3 April and on the morning of 3 April using attack UAVs and air-to-surface and surface-to-surface missiles. Ukrainian air defence downed 541 out of 579 airborne assets launched by Russia.

Details: From 18:00 on 2 April, air surveillance troops from the Air Force detected 579 aerial attack assets:

  • 10 Iskander-M ballistic missiles (launched from Russia's Kursk and Rostov oblasts);
  • 25 Kh-101 cruise missiles (launched from the airspace over Russia's Samara Oblast);
  • 2 Iskander-K cruise missiles (launched from Russia's Rostov Oblast);
  • 542 Shahed, Gerbera and Italmas loitering munitions and other drones launched from Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Shatalovo, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), as well as Hvardiiske and Chauda in temporarily occupied Crimea.

More than 330 of them were Shahed attack drones.

The aerial attack was repelled by Ukrainian aircraft, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces.

Early reports as of 14:00 indicate that Ukrainian air defence had shot down or jammed 541 assets – 26 missiles and 515 UAVs of various types:

  • 24 Kh-101 cruise missiles;
  • 2 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
  • 515 UAVs of various types.

Hits by 11 missiles and 27 strike UAVs were recorded at 20 locations and debris from downed aerial assets fell at 22 locations.
