Details: Sybiha expressed confidence that Ukraine has received "the right European news from this country, which opens up new opportunities and offers a chance to begin a new, good-neighbourly chapter in our shared history".
"This is what we want, and we have already sent signals regarding appropriate contact at the level of the Ukrainian president and Mr Magyar. We are anticipating this contact and, of course, we are interested in it. We are looking forward to receiving a response," the minister said.
Sybiha noted that there is a wide range of issues to be resolved with the Hungarian side, from border infrastructure to cooperation on Europe-related matters.
"Globally speaking, this is about the lifting of the block placed by Hungary as a country on our path towards European Union membership. This includes the 20th sanctions package, the €90 billion loan, and the formal opening of clusters," Sybiha added.
Background:
- President Zelenskyy has congratulated Magyar and the opposition Tisza party on their victory in Hungary's elections.
- A few hours after polling stations closed, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán conceded defeat after 16 years in power and congratulated his opponents.
- The Tisza party, led by Péter Magyar, will form a single-party majority and control more than two-thirds of the seats in Hungary's parliament. Magyar has called for Orbán's immediate resignation.
