Background:
- On the morning of 10 November 2025, it emerged that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) was conducting searches at the premises of Tymur Mindich, a businessman and co-owner of Kvartal 95, the Ukrainian production company Volodymyr Zelenskyy founded before he became president, and at the home of Herman Halushchenko, who was at that time serving as minister of justice. Sources told Ukrainska Pravda that Mindich had fled abroad several hours before the searches took place.
- On the same day, NABU announced that it had uncovered a large-scale corruption scheme involving the embezzlement of funds in the energy sector and released audio recordings of conversations between individuals named in the case.
- On the night of 14-15 February, Halushchenko was detained by NABU and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) while attempting to cross the border.
- On 16 February, the High Anti-Corruption Court heard a complaint from Halushchenko's defence team regarding his allegedly unlawful detention. The complaint was partially upheld, and Halushchenko was remanded in custody pending the selection of a pre-trial measure.
- On 17 February, Halushchenko, who, alongside Mindich, is named in the Midas case concerning alleged corruption around Energoatom, was remanded in custody, with bail set at UAH 200 million (about US$4.5 million).
