Details: Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov said that during the night the Russians attacked higher education institutions "treacherously and deliberately".

The administration of the Dnipro Polytechnic National Technical University said that the university campus had sustained serious damage, but that "the main building has seen worse".

"After the Second World War it was rebuilt from ruins, and that memory has not disappeared. We have already begun restoring our polytechnic – systematically, without panic, step by step," the university said.

Posted images show that a significant number of windows in the buildings were blown out, and doors inside the premises were damaged in places by the blast wave.

Oksen Lisovyi reported that at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology, roof structures were completely destroyed, while load-bearing walls and partitions in the student accommodation were partially damaged.

As a result of the attack, the roof of a building at the Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture (part of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology) was damaged over an area of 1,500 square metres. Windows and doors were also blown out across an area of 2,500 square metres.

According to Filatov, around 30 nearby residential buildings were also affected by the attack and blast wave. In total, more than 1,000 windows were shattered, while other damage is still being assessed.

Local residents living nearby said they heard two explosions in the middle of the night, the second of which was louder. After the strike, a university building caught fire, Suspilne. Dnipro reports.

"I was at home, asleep. I heard the first explosion, it sounded muffled. Then there was a huge blast and the glass shattered. I jumped out of bed, got dressed, went outside and ran to the dormitory.

There were lads with torches, so I stayed with them all night. In the morning I came home and saw that there was no glass left in my kitchen windows," said a local resident, Valentyna.

Another witness, Olha, a displaced person from Druzhkivka in Donetsk Oblast who evacuated in February 2026 due to constant ballistic strikes, also heard the night-time attack. She now lives in a dormitory near the site of the strike.

"There was a loud strike, I got up. My little indoor dog was frightened, so I took him into the shared corridor.

There were neighbours there, young men, saying: it [the missile] is coming, it's about to hit. And then it struck twice more. The first strike was terrifying. Our window shifted and the door flew open," Olha shared.
