Details: Preliminary analysis indicates a fire near a storage tank farm at the Syzran refinery.

Crude oil from Western Siberia (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, a federal subject of the Russian Federation) is supplied to the refinery via the Transneft trunk pipeline system.

The tank farm stores both crude oil and finished petroleum products prior to shipment.

Products are distributed in three directions after processing: the domestic Russian market, river logistics via the Volga and back into the pipeline system for further export flows.

A key export hub is the port of Novorossiysk, through which a significant share of external shipments is routed.
