Triumph for Ukrainian tennis: Kostiuk wins tournament in Rouen, defeating Podrez in final

Marta Kostiuk (world No. 28) has won the WTA 250 tournament in the French city of Rouen, defeating Veronika Podrez (world No. 208) in what was the first all-Ukrainian final in the history of a competition of this level.

Details: The match lasted one hour and 21 minutes and ended with a score of 6-3, 6-4.

During the match, Kostiuk served four aces, made five double faults and recorded seven breaks. Podrez served one ace, made seven service errors and recorded four breaks.

The two players had not previously met on court.

Kostiuk claimed her second WTA title following her trophy in Austin in 2023. This was her fifth final. From next week, she will move up to 23rd in the world rankings.

Podrez made her first career appearance at a WTA 250-level competition, immediately reaching the final. On Monday, Veronika will debut in the top 150 of the women's world rankings.

Last year's tournament in Rouen was won by Ukraine's top-ranked player Elina Svitolina.
