Japan invests in Ukrainian company to develop interceptor drones

Japanese company Terra Drone has made a strategic investment in Ukrainian defence company WinnyLab, which develops and manufactures interceptor drones, through its subsidiary Terra Inspectioneering.

Details: Terra Drone said the investment follows the company's previous investment in Amazing Drones, a Ukrainian developer of interceptor UAVs.

Quote from Toru Tokushige, CEO of Terra Drone: "By combining the wide-area defence capabilities of fixed-wing interceptor drones with Terra Drone's global reach, we aim to bring reliable, combat-proven technology to markets around the world and contribute to the safety and stability of the international community."

More details: In March, Terra Drone announced plans to scale up its operations in Ukraine and expand the use of technological expertise developed in real combat conditions for the further development of international projects.

When Terra Drone struck its deal with Amazing Drones, the company said it plans to accelerate the development and supply of unmanned systems, including interceptor drones, FPV drones, reconnaissance UAVs and unmanned surface vessels (USVs).

For reference: Terra Drone is an international technology company headquartered in Japan and one of the world leaders in unmanned technology and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).

WinnyLab is a Ukrainian defence technology company specialising in the development of UAVs and practical autonomous solutions.

Data from the YouControl system shows the company was registered in February 2026. Olha Bihun is its director and beneficial owner.
