Russia violates Zelenskyy's ceasefire within minutes

Russian forces have violated the ceasefire announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy within the first minutes after it came into force at midnight on 6 May, launching attacks on Ukraine with drones and guided aerial bombs.

Details: Russia once again demonstrated complete disregard for humanitarian initiatives and agreements. The attack began immediately after the ceasefire took effect. Russian forces did not observe the silence even for the first hour, striking Ukrainian cities with kamikaze drones.

Explosions were heard in the city of Dnipro during an air-raid warning. Early reports indicate that the city was attacked by Russian Shahed drones.

As of 00:09, air-raid warnings had been issued in eastern oblasts and parts of the south and north, namely in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Chernihiv Oblast, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Kharkiv Oblast, Donetsk Oblast and Sumy Oblast.

Update at 06:00: The Air Force reported throughout the night Russian UAVs heading towards Pavlohrad, Kharkiv, Izium and Vilshany as well as launches of guided aerial bombs by Russian aircraft targeting Sumy Oblast, Kharkiv Oblast, Donetsk Oblast and Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

Background: Zelenskyy announced the introduction of a ceasefire, which was set to begin at 00:00 on 6 May.
