Details: Papperger spoke about the supply during a phone conference following the results of the first quarter of 2026. He said Rheinmetall will be able to supply 100,000 155mm shells with a range of up to 60 kilometres.
"Ukraine is asking for a total of 1.2 million extended-range artillery shells per year, with Rheinmetall offering to be able to produce and deliver 100,000 of them (155mm shells up to 60 km range)," German Aid to Ukraine wrote.
The observer also cited German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, who in February stated that the country "would comply with Ukraine's request for a higher supply of extended-range artillery shells and fund this kind of ammunition".
Background: It previously reported that in April, Spain announced a new military aid package for Ukraine, which will include VAMTAC armoured tactical vehicles and 155mm artillery shells. Czech journalist Ondřej Housk also reported that the Czech Shell Initiative for Ukraine is short of funding for all planned deliveries.
