Apple removes Russian Max messenger from App Store over sanctions
On the evening of 3 June, Russian users noticed that Max, Russia's state messenger, unexpectedly disappeared from Apple's App Store. The Cupertino-based company told the BBC that the move is linked to sanctions compliance.

Details: Apple did not specify which sanctions prompted the removal of the messenger, but pointed out that it acts in line with all applicable compliance regulations.
As for the messenger itself, it can no longer be downloaded. It does not appear in App Store search results and an error message appears when users follow a direct link. Those who had already installed the app can continue using it.
Background: Last summer, the Russian government ordered that Max be installed on all new smartphones. After that, the authorities began actively blocking or restricting alternatives such as Telegram and WhatsApp.
