"Fuel oil rain" reported in Russia following drone strike on oil depot

Residents in Russia's Yaroslavl Oblast have reported what they described as a "fuel oil rain", with black droplets and an oily film coating vegetation, surfaces and bodies of water, following a drone strike on a fuel depot belonging to Russia's Federal Agency for State Reserves (Rosrezerv).

Users on local social media communities are posting photos of plants and surfaces coated in a dark, oily film. A video is also circulating of the Volgotnya River in the village of Volkovo, around 20 km from Rybinsk, showing oil slicks on the water surface.

Ukrainian drones attacked Yaroslavl Oblast on the night of 13-14 June. The local authorities reported hits on industrial fuel storage facilities and an ensuing fire.

Background: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that on the night of 13-14 June, Ukrainian forces had struck an oil facility in Russia's Yaroslavl Oblast, located over 700 km from the Ukrainian border.
