Rheinmetall receives contract from Ukraine for artillery ammunition – Reuters

German defence concern Rheinmetall has received a contract from Ukraine to supply artillery shells and propellant charges.

Details: The contract is said to be worth tens of millions of euros.
According to the agency, production to fulfil the order has already begun at Rheinmetall's facility in Spain. The order is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.

Rheinmetall is a German defence company. Its Rheinmetall Weapons and Ammunition division produces large- and medium-calibre weapons and ammunition, protection systems, and components for ammunition, including propellant charges and powders.
Background:
- In May, Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger confirmed that the company would be able to supply 100,000 long-range 155 mm artillery rounds to Ukraine.
- In 2023-2024, the company announced supplies of 155 mm shells and propellant charges, and in 2025 it announced the creation of a joint venture for ammunition production in Ukraine. It was later reported that the launch of the plant had been postponed.
