The Russians attacked the Romny hromada in Sumy Oblast on the night of 2-3 July. An attack UAV hit a multi-storey residential building, killing four local residents. [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]

Ukrainska Pravda.Zhyttia gathered information about those whose lives were taken by the attack

"Sadly, two women, an elderly man and a small child – a girl who was not yet two years old – were killed. The Russian strike took her life along with her mother," said Oleh Hryhorov, Head of Sumy Oblast Military Administration.

A 26-year-old teacher at Andriiashivka Lyceum, Iryna Shevchenko, and her daughter Sofiia were killed as a result of the strike, the institution reported on its page. Sofia's grandmother, Liubov, told Suspilne Sumy journalists that the strike hit the room where the mother and child were.

The girl was only a year and eight months old. The child's father was hospitalised with burns, the Sumy Oblast Prosecutor's Office reported.

The Russian attack also killed 39-year-old Tetiana Barabash, an Administrative Service Center employee in Romny.

"A kind, genuine person whose heart beat for others. She was not just a professional in her field, she was the soul of our team – incredibly cheerful, positive and full of life.

Tetiana truly loved life, knew how to notice beauty in small things and inspired everyone around her with her optimism. Her infectious laughter instantly lifted the spirits of everyone nearby and became a real salvation in difficult days. It seemed her inner light was enough to dispel any darkness," her colleagues noted.

Oleh Stohnii, Head of the Romny hromada, wrote that the fourth victim was 76-year-old Hryhorii Zvada.

Two days of mourning, on 3 and 4 July, were declared in the hromada for those killed in the Russian strike.
