NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has said he expects allies to confirm in the final declaration of the NATO summit in Ankara that Russia poses a long-term threat to the Alliance's territory.

Details: Rutte stressed that the final document could only be discussed once it has been formally approved at the end of the summit, but said the current draft gives him confidence that this wording will remain.

"I expect again for today to acknowledge collectively that Russia is the long-term threat to NATO territory," he said.

"You have to read the declaration when it comes out, but I have clear expectations that the long-term threats of Russia will again be noted," the secretary general added.
