Oil depots in Russia's Tver and Stavropol Krai ablaze after drone attacks – photo, videos

Drones attacked oil storage facilities in Russia's Tver and Mikhaylovsk in Stavropol Krai on the night of 8-9 July, causing fires at both sites.

Details: According to Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) analysis of eyewitness videos, the LUKOIL-Yugnefteprodukt oil depot in the town of Mikhaylovsk in the Shpakovsky district in Stavropol Krai was targeted in the drone attack.

The facility is involved in the storage, transshipment and distribution of petroleum products through oil depots and the LUKOIL filling station network across southern and central Russia.

Stavropol Krai Governor Vladimir Vladimirov confirmed that an attack had taken place but described the strike location only as an "industrial facility" in the nearby settlement of Vyazniki in the Shpakovsky district.

Later the same night, drones also attacked the Tvernefteprodukt oil depot in the city of Tver, north of Moscow.

Videos posted online show a fire near at least one of the facility's storage tanks, with flames and thick smoke rising above the site.

Local authorities have not yet released any information about the scale of the fire at the Tver oil depot or whether there were any casualties.

Ukraine's defence forces regularly strike Russia's oil refining industry and fuel storage facilities. Such sites are considered legitimate military targets because they supply fuel to the Russian military for its war against Ukraine.
