Zelenskyy: If Yeltsin had known Russia would be importing energy, he'd have chosen a different successor
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has pointed out that the Russian economy is now seeking fuel abroad rather than at home.
Source: Zelenskyy during an online briefing with journalists
Details: Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine has already prevented fuel from being supplied to Russia in sufficient volumes from neutral countries.
Quote: "A country like Russia, whose economy has always been oriented towards exporting its energy resources, is now engaged in trying to find fuel anywhere it can and somehow increase its possibilities of purchasing and importing fuel, so Ukraine has intervened – we have already done this.
Between you and me, I think that if [Boris] Yeltsin had known that in 20-plus years Russia would be importing energy instead of exporting it because it had stupidly decided to start a war, I think Yeltsin would have chosen a different successor."
