Reuters: Patriot interceptors for Ukraine could be produced in Germany
Production of US-made Patriot interceptor missiles for Ukraine is most likely to be organised in a European country, with Germany being one of the options under consideration.
Source: Reuters, as reported by European Pravda
Details: Reuters reported that Germany is among the countries that could help Kyiv accelerate the production of Patriot interceptor missiles, as it has established its own production chain for PAC-2 interceptors.
Two sources familiar with the discussions told Reuters that the new interceptors will most likely be manufactured in Germany or another European country, as this is considered a safer option.
According to the report, production could be relocated to Ukraine after the war ends.
Background:
- On 8 July, during a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, US President Donald Trump said the US will grant Ukraine a licence to produce Patriot missiles.
- Zelenskyy also said that following the political agreement with Trump on a Patriot production licence, the "technical" work on implementing the agreement must begin quickly.
