Russians hit Mykolaiv port, killing two
Russian forces struck port infrastructure in Mykolaiv with attack drones on the morning of 17 July, killing two Ukrainian nationals.

Details: A pre-trial investigation into war crimes that resulted in deaths has been launched under the procedural supervision of prosecutors from Mykolaiv Oblast Prosecutor's Office.
Quote: "According to the investigation, on the morning of 17 July 2026, servicemembers of the Russian Armed Forces carried out an attack with Shahed-238 strike drones on port infrastructure in the city of Mykolaiv."
More details: According to the prosecutor's office, the Russian attack damaged three civilian vessels flying foreign flags that were moored at port facilities in the city.
"Two Ukrainian nationals who were on board a foreign vessel were killed as a result of one of the hits," the statement reads.
Prosecutors, together with investigators and other law enforcement officers, are documenting the consequences of yet another war crime committed by Russia.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine's Directorate in Mykolaiv Oblast.
The ports of Mykolaiv and Kherson have remained blocked since the start of the full-scale invasion. However, vessels belonging to both Ukrainian and foreign shipowners remain in them.
Background: Ukrainian seaports handled 42.4 million tonnes of cargo in the first half of 2026, despite Russian attacks that intensified in July.
