Zelenskyy meets with new PM, says heating season preparation a critical priority
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has met with Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi to discuss preparations for the heating season.

The prime minister has begun preparing the Government's programme, which will be presented to the public and to MPs.
The approach to governance will be as pragmatic as possible – every minister and every head of a central government body will bear personal responsibility for carrying out the tasks designated as priorities."
Details: Zelenskyy added that Koretskyi has the opportunity to shape government policy and a central executive team capable of strengthening Ukraine with additional capacity.
They also discussed the appointment of acting ministers of foreign affairs and defence.
The president stated that preparations for the heating season are a critical priority.
Quote: "Work to restore the energy infrastructure following the Russian attacks is also continuing around the clock.
Today, the Russians again attacked Naftogaz facilities – unfortunately, there is significant damage. The prime minister and I discussed the steps needed under these circumstances. It is important that, despite the ongoing Russian attacks, we implement everything we agreed on to prepare for the winter."
Background:
- The Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) voted on 16 July to appoint former head of Naftogaz and Ukrnafta Serhii Koretskyi as prime minister.
- The parliament appointed a new Cabinet of Ministers headed by Serhii Koretskyi. The ministers of foreign affairs and defence will be appointed at a later date.
