Russian attack on Black Sea vessel: six sailors confirmed dead, four still missing

Six crew members have now been confirmed dead after Russia attacked a civilian vessel in the Black Sea near the city of Odesa, while four others remain missing.

Quote: "Eight crew members have been rescued. Two of them have suffered injuries.

Sadly, as of now, six sailors have been confirmed dead, while another four are considered missing."

Details: Kalashnyk added that the search and rescue operation is ongoing.

Background:

• Russian forces launched a missile strike on a merchant ship sailing under the flag of Guinea-Bissau in the Black Sea off the coast of Odesa. The vessel was carrying a cargo of grain. It was initially reported that five people had been killed, while the fate of another five crew members remained unknown.
• It was later confirmed that the vessel Golden Leo, sailing under the flag of Guinea-Bissau, had 17 Syrian and Indian nationals on board as well as a Ukrainian marine pilot. The pilot was killed in the attack.
