Zelenskyy holds first special Staff meeting with weapons manufacturers and corps commanders

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a special meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief on 20 July that brought weapons manufacturers and army corps commanders together for the first time.

Quote: "Today, following several days of discussions with the commanders of our corps carrying out the most critical combat missions, I convened a special meeting of the Staff.

For the first time, there was direct, first-hand dialogue between our leading weapons and equipment manufacturers, the commanders of corps who actually use their products, Ukraine's Ministries of Defence and Finance, and our country's key special services."

Details: Zelenskyy said the meeting was attended by the commanders of the Air Assault Forces, the 10th, 11th and 19th Army Corps, and the Khartiia and Azov Corps, together with representatives of Ukraine's leading new defence companies.

The attendees agreed to establish a regular format for such meetings between corps commanders, manufacturers and government agencies, to be coordinated by the Ministry of Defence and the National Security and Defence Council.

Quote: "Most of the issues discussed were entirely practical: actual battlefield needs, delays in supplies, unresolved procurement issues, the additional funding required, and supply contracts for drones of all types and ground robotic systems, long-range artillery munitions needed on virtually every sector of intensive fighting, and other equipment.

We agreed to establish a regular format for exactly this kind of dialogue between the corps, manufacturers, and government agencies, coordinated by the Ministry of Defence and the National Security and Defence Council."

Details: Zelenskyy added that the meeting also focused on specific rates of product defects identified by combat units using the equipment.

Another meeting in the same format with other corps commanders is scheduled for Tuesday.
