Zelenskyy calls on diplomats to counter Russian influence ahead of elections in partner countries

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on Ukrainian diplomats to step up their work ahead of elections in partner countries in order to counter Russian influence and preserve support for Ukraine regardless of the outcome of the vote.

Quote: "We are now entering a particularly sensitive period in partner countries that matter to us: from September, first in the German Länder, then in Israel, the United States and, next year, France and other countries around the world.

Russia never misses an opportunity to interfere in elections through hybrid tools, financial influence and destabilisation. We all understand the risks this entails."

Details: Zelenskyy pointed out that Ukraine does not interfere in the internal affairs of other states.

He said Ukrainian diplomats should work not only with the governments of partner countries but also with society, the media and young people. Their task is to counter Russian propaganda, influence public opinion and help ensure that support for Ukraine does not depend on a change of government.

Zelenskyy also called on diplomats to protect the interests of Ukrainian communities abroad.

He added that diplomacy can no longer remain purely "classical and static" but must adapt to new conditions and make use of modern communication channels.

Background: Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine is working towards signing 15 more agreements in the Drone Deal format, which involves defence cooperation, exchange of experience and long-term financing for Ukrainian drone production.
