Russians captured more territory in July than Ukraine's defence forces liberated – DeepState

Russian forces occupied more Ukrainian territory in July than Ukraine's defence forces managed to liberate, with the net increase in occupied territory amounting to 36 sq km.

Details: DeepState said they had revised data for May to July because the defence forces' advances are often confirmed with a delay.

"We reduced the area of occupied territory by 52 sq km in July. Of that, 25 sq km relate to May and 27 sq km to June. As a result, the enemy's net territorial gain in July could amount to 88 sq km. Nevertheless, there were further advances by the defence forces in July. They were significantly smaller than previous ones, but they did take place," DeepState said.

There have also been advances in at least two other sectors covering 49 and 83 sq km respectively.

"As soon as the defence forces' advances are officially announced, we will disclose the details and recalculate the statistics," the post said.

DeepState also stressed that Russia's objective of occupying the whole of Donetsk Oblast in 2026 is unrealistic.

"They will have no chance of achieving it even in 2027 at the current pace," the post said.

Background: Russian forces had occupied 84 sq km of Ukrainian territory in June. Meanwhile, the analysts noted that, taking into account territory liberated by Ukraine's defence forces, Russia's net territorial gain could have been negative for the second consecutive month.
