Zelenskyy: Ukraine's stock of air defence missiles has fallen threefold since 2025

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has pointed out that Ukraine has three times fewer anti-ballistic missiles than it did in 2025, despite its partners having stocks available.

Quote: "Unfortunately, supplies of anti-ballistic capabilities from partners have decreased significantly this year. The number of air defence missiles supplied has dropped threefold compared with 2025. And this concerns not only this summer period, but every period of the first half of 2026."

Details: The president also said that Kyiv's partners do have missiles available. "It is important that the necessary political decisions on supplies and the acceleration of production processes are ultimately made – including decisions on localisation in Ukraine. This is something that can tangibly support not only our country, but also to the global protection of life," Zelenskyy noted.

Zelenskyy said a set of additional steps to protect infrastructure facilities in Ukraine has been determined at a meeting with the military and the teams of the Defence Ministry, the Security Service, intelligence agencies and the Office of the President.

The meeting also identified active measures by Ukrainian forces to be implemented in Donetsk Oblast and on certain other sections of the front. "The greatest attention right now is, of course, paid to Kostiantynivka and Sloviansk," he said.

The meeting with military, intelligence and security officials has discussed August priorities for Ukraine's "long-range sanctions" campaign against Russia, Zelenskyy said, using the term Kyiv employs for long-range strikes.

"Operations targeting Russian oil facilities and refining are ongoing. The cost to the aggressor of prolonging the war will continue to rise," the president said.

Background: On the night of 4-5 August, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 24 ballistic missiles, four anti-ship missiles, and 115 strike drones of various types. Air defence forces destroyed 98 drones, however no missile interceptions were reported.
