Father and 8-year-old son killed in Russian drone strike on petrol station in Kryvyi Rih district

Russian forces attacked a petrol station in the Kryvyi Rih district with a jet-powered drone on the afternoon of 3 August, killing three people. Among the victims were rescue worker Eduard Razloh, his eight-year-old son Maksym and petrol station operator Tetiana Volkova.

Details: The boy had been playing football and was returning home from training with his father at the time of the strike, his coach Serhii Dovhyi told Suspilne.

Maksym had trained with the Kryvbas Football Academy team for six months.

"He was a good, active boy. They travelled from Velyka Oleksandrivka for training. On Sunday, he played a match and scored two goals," the coach said.

Teachers at Velyka Oleksandrivka Lyceum, a specialised secondary school where Maksym studied and where his father Eduard had also been educated, shared their memories of the boy.

"Maksym was a ray of light in our lyceum. He was remarkably mature for his age, with outstanding artistic abilities. He was incredibly active, cheerful, and always quick both in learning and in play.

Maksym had a special gift – the ability to form sincere friendships, bring people together and make everyone smile. This loss is an indescribable pain for all of us," the school said.

Maksym's father, Eduard Razloh, served in the State Emergency Service in Kherson Oblast. The 41-year-old man had been a senior rescue worker at the 7th State Fire and Rescue Unit since May 2024. He had travelled to Dnipropetrovsk Oblast on leave.

"During this time, he became a reliable colleague, someone who always supported others and carried out his duties with dedication. He will remain in the memory of his comrades as a responsible, courageous and kind colleague, always ready to help those in need," the Kherson Oblast branch of the State Emergency Service said.

Naftogaz, Ukraine's largest national oil and gas company, reported that the attack also claimed the life of their employee, 52-year-old petrol station operator Tetiana Volkova, who was refuelling customers' vehicles at the time.
