Zelenskyy provides details on meeting with Azerbaijan's foreign minister in Kyiv

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Kyiv on Thursday 6 August.

Details: The Ukrainian president noted that this was Bayramov's first visit to Ukraine since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. He began his trip in Irpin, a city near Kyiv, where he visited a school, a hospital and a rehabilitation centre supported by Azerbaijan.

Zelenskyy briefed the Azerbaijani foreign minister on Russia's continuing attacks against Ukraine, the security situation in the Black Sea, and Russia's blockade of grain export routes.

"We discussed high-level diplomatic contacts, defence partnership, as well as economic cooperation in the energy sector, the oil and gas industry, and agriculture. I am grateful to Azerbaijan for its support for Ukraine, its energy and humanitarian assistance, and our constructive dialogue," Zelenskyy said.

Background:

In April, the Ukrainian president announced that six bilateral agreements had been signed during his visit to Azerbaijan.
Following Zelenskyy's visit, Azerbaijan donated five passenger buses to Ukraine as humanitarian aid.
